Sage's Weight Loss Advice & Tips
A Successful Weight Loss Program Must Be:
Easy to Follow--If it's too complicated you won't stick to it. You need to build healthy habits slowly so they last & don't feel overwhelming.
Not Too Restrictive--If your program cuts out ALL the foods you love you'll only crave them & binge eat later. Try to cut out just one food at a time each month.
Balanced--You might eat well but be so down you don't exercise or you might exercise like crazy but be so stressed you can't lose the weight due to thyroid, adrenal, or hormone imbalances. Use all natural holistic methods such as Acupressure, Massage, Herbs, Music, and Yoga, to bring your whole body into balance.
FUN!--We know you won't stick to any health program if you aren't enjoying the process of getting healthy so check out programs like The Bet for Weight Loss so you can start having fun losing weight!
Tips For Long-Term Weight Loss
1. You’ve heard it before—stop going on fad diets because you will upset your body’s metabolism and slow it down. You want to eat regularly to keep your metabolism working efficiently. Don’t skip a meal, just eat smaller portions.
2. Eat a balanced diet. You don’t need to be obsessive—just know that at every meal you want some fruit, vegetables, whole grains, good fat, and protein.
3. Eat good fats—2 tbls/day of olive oil, avocado, or flax seeds so your body gets the fat it needs and doesn’t hold the bad fat (and cellulite) it doesn’t!
4. Eat a salad a day & you’ll get an extra serving or two of veggies. Make your own dressing with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, 1 tsp mustard, instead of processed dressings. Use apple cider vinegar for fat burning!
5. Eat your protein before you eat your carbs. If you are going to eat breads or rice then eat part of your protein first to slow the insulin rush that happens when you eat sugars & carbs on an empty stomach (ultimately causing weight gain.)
6. Get acupressure for food addictions & appetite control or do it yourself with our guide.
7. A gentle, clockwise stomach massage can really help digestion after eating!
8. Before every meal have an 8oz glass of water
9. With every meal have a cup of green tea (fat burning, antioxidants)
10. After every meal have a cup of Peppermint tea (aids digestion, stops dessert cravings)
11. Eat a low sodium diet so you don’t bloat and retain water. Check your soups and canned foods because they tend to be very high in sodium !
12. Eat slowly, very slowly, because you will feel fuller faster and you will digest your food better.
